Weekend Dad Kills Children

Cass

Kerry Hughes last saw her two young daughters when their estranged father was picking them up for the weekend it his first custody visit since splitting from her.

The next day he phoned her to say he had killed them.

David Cass, 32, told her: 'The children have gone to sleep for ever and now I'm going to hang myself.'

Miss Hughes rang 999 but by the time police arrived at his caravan home, all three were dead.

Ellie, three, and Isobel, 13 months, had been smothered in the caravan while their father's body was hanging from a girder at the nearby garage where he worked.

Cass, a car mechanic, had been suffering from depression after separating from his partner.

For the past two weeks he had been staying in the caravan in the yard of the MOT and car sales centre where he worked in the Shirley area of Southampton.

I take it that it wasn't a court appointed custody visit. The guy lived in a caravan where he worked thats one step away from being homeless.

Well I know Miss Hughes is no doubt doing some serious grieving but if it were my kids I wouldn't have sent them there.

Cass was a wrong un from the start, he started going out with Hughes when she was only 16, he was 8 years older. What he couldn't get someone his own age?

I know in the UK that a 16 year-old is considered more of an adult than in the US but really that age gap is more than a bit inappropriate. Cass needed someone he could control and mold.

Suicide is one of the most selfish things you could ever do. The one that does it is only thinking about themselves but a suicide and murder means that not only was he thinking about himself he was also punishing his ex partner for wanting a life without him .

People have said how Cass was a doting father and was always talking about his kids well talk is cheap that fucker cared nothing for his kids depressed or not. He found a way to control Miss Hughes' future. I'm sure he told many people all the things they wanted to hear in order to get the visit.

God bless little Ellie and Isobel I'm so sorry their short lives were ended so unnecessarily but you were and are loved .

May David Cass not rest in peace.
